Spring Equinox Gathering

In a beautiful eco lodge on the south downs of England in East Sussex we gathered to celebrate the seasonal threshold of the Spring Equinox, a time of balance, emergence and new life. This was the second gathering for our Year of Seasonal celebrations offering. It is a privilege and joy to work with shamanic practioner, arts counselor and fellow textile artist Ali Rabjohns on these events.  The day was held in circle with ceremony, with journeying led by Ali, creativity, seasonal shared food and good company.  As the birds begin to make their nests for their young, we too created nests to safely hold our intentions, our seeds at this time of emergence. We had created samples as inspiration from flax tow, mud, woven willow, bramble and raffia and combined these with soft wool fleece, thread and moss. I love how each person intuitively created their own individual nests to anchor what was emerging for them. This way of making invites exploration of materials to fashion something of meaning as a container and a reminder of what we are wanting to bring forth. We were sustained with nourishing nettle soup fro the land and herb teas, plus a delicious cake made by Christine. It was a beautiful day.

Our next event is Beltane on 10th May where we will be celebrating the fertility and blossoming of the land and within ourselves.
